Amsterdam has a variety of accommodation options for tourists and visiting families. There are small, low-cost inns for single tourists or those on a budget, or large luxury hotels for large groups and those seeking top-class service. Student accommodations are a bit scarce, as the University of Amsterdam does not offer in-campus residences. However, the International Office is willing to help students find a place to stay near the University.
Hotels and Accommodation
The Residence Le Coin Hotel is conveniently close to almost all the department buildings of the University and a ten-minute walk from Amsterdam's Central Station. Covering an entire residential complex, the hotel offers 42 luxury rooms and affordable amenities, including a pool sports facilities, and a bar and restaurant.
Those on a budget can check out Hotel Plantage, a two-star hotel with many three- and four-star facilities. All rooms are furnished with cosy boxspring beds, en suite and private shower bathrooms, a colour TV with over 30 channels, and 24-hour coffee and bar service. The hotel is recommended by the University itself for visitors and delegates to conferences and seminars.
Student Accommodation
The University of Amsterdam has limited accommodations for students, and international students must book accommodations with the University's International Office well in advance. Visiting or new students staying in Amsterdam outside of regular school terms have a wide range of accommodation options to choose from. Most hotels are less than 5 km / 3 miles from the campus and within easy walking distance of shopping centres, hospitals, and major tourist attractions.
